Honestly it's hard to find words to describe how was my first week in Spain. Usually you'll use the adjectives "great", "wonderful", "incredible" "amazing", "awesome"....and so on. I really can't decide if those words will fit to describe the week. Maybe I can say it was 'eye opening" and "assurance that we are on the right path and the Lord is blessing our decision".... there.
The first week in Spain was intense in every aspect; went to the airport 3 times in 3 days, several trips to Barcelona, since day 2 I translated all day long from Spanish-English-Spanish, we had Ken Lassiter from First Baptist Church in Woodstock, GA and two more Americans; Seth Kitchen who is a future missionary with WOL Spain and Jonathan Carte my brand new friend! during the week we had 3 meetings with different pastors and missionaries from other mission boards and a leader of the Brethren Church of Spain and several other very high leadership position even representing the Christian Churches in front of the government. So from Tuesday to Friday it was like one long day. Of course always food and coffee in between, I think I've never eaten so much and well in my life :) The purpose of the meetings were to get to know more the situation of the church in Spain and to see how we can help each other more.
On Saturday we had the main even of the week that was a School of Leadership for pastors and leaders, we had 77 people that attended the event, from Madrid (center of Spain) Galicia (North West of Spain) Basque Country (North of Spain) and city of Barcelona and Barcelona area. In short, every one was super exited, the Word of God was challenging and compelling and everyone was blessed. This opens doors to the ministry that we can't even start to imagine.
On Thursday we had a meeting in a church with a pastor and we were asking about some statistics of how many Christians were in his area, well, we were shocked to learn that in his county there are 425,000 people and only 400 believers live and go to church in the whole region and only 40 young people attend church.
Needless to say that they are shouting for help.
God also gave me the privilege to say farewell to the first Catalan student to the Word of Life Bible Institute in Argentina.
We praise the Lord for what He is doing in Spain. Please pray for us!
Thank you for being part of this, God is using you also to be a blessing in Spain.
